MeeBlip 1.05: Knob Autosave, Better Knob Shift
by Peter Kirn

James Grahame has been hard at work on firmware. The latest version of the firmware, 1.05, will save knob values even when you turn off the power, so you can start up your MeeBlip and resume right where you left off.
Here’s how it works: the MeeBlip has EEPROM (that’s Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory, for the chronically curious) memory storage. Now, the MeeBlip stores knob settings to that memory. But remember that some knobs have two functions. So, firmware 1.05 also writes all of its dual-function knob values to that memory each time you throw the KNOB SHIFT switch.
Result: everything you do is now saved and recalled. For the ambitious firmware hacker, that could open up other features in the future. For everyone else, it just means it’s easier to edit.
This version also fixes the knob shift functionality in general.
Download the latest firmware, as always, from our Git repository. Then follow our guide to flashing your firmware:
Upload New Firmware to Your MeeBlip
New option: if you don’t like the idea of uploading firmware yourself, you can now buy from our store a replacement microcontroller with the work done for you.
New MeeBlips always ship with the latest stable firmware. Of course, the ability to upgrade is important to us, so it’s worth checking out that upgrade guide.
Discuss the new firmware on the Noisepages forum.
There’s also a thread on ideas for future firmware updates, which is something to which anyone in the MeeBlip community may contribute.
